WhatsApp Community Guidelines & Terms

1. Purpose of the Community

The Living Earth WhatsApp Community exists to connect people across Namibia (and beyond) who are passionate about regenerative living. It provides an easy way to:

  • Share updates, opportunities, and inspiration.
  • Connect with others working on similar challenges.
  • Coordinate projects and events.
  • Build a stronger Living Earth Movement.

WhatsApp is just one of our tools — we also connect through events, training, Odoo, and our website.

2. Community Structure

To keep discussions clear and useful, our WhatsApp Community is organised into different groups:

  • Announcements – official updates from Living Earth.
  • General – broad conversation and introductions.
  • Topic Groups – e.g. Water, Soil, Gardening, Seeds & Swaps, Livestock, Pest Control, Infrastructure.
  • Regional Groups – Central, Coast, North, South.
  • Specialist Groups – by invitation only (e.g. Permaculture PDC, Agroforestry Experts).
  • Crew Community – for those actively working in projects, roles, or business units of Living Earth Projects (Pty) Ltd.

This structure reduces noise and allows everyone to join the groups that matter most to them.

3. Participation Guidelines

By joining our WhatsApp Community, you agree to:

  • Stay on topic – each group has a focus (e.g. don’t post livestock ads in the Water group).
  • Be respectful – no insults, hate speech, or personal attacks.
  • Share value – posts should be useful, inspiring, or relevant to the group.
  • Keep it concise – avoid long forwards, chain messages, or repeated posts.
  • No spam – adverts are only allowed in dedicated groups (e.g. Seeds & Swaps).

We encourage constructive debate, but always with respect for others.

4. Expert & Invitation-Only Groups

Some groups (e.g. Agroforestry Experts, PDC Circle) are restricted. To join, you may need to:

  • Show practical experience in the field, or
  • Complete a free online course or training.

This keeps these spaces focused, productive, and valuable to everyone.

5. Admin & Moderation

  • Each group has at least one Admin, responsible for keeping discussions on track.
  • Admins may remove posts or members that break the rules.
  • Repeated misuse (e.g. spam, off-topic, disrespect) may lead to removal from the Community.

6. Privacy & Security

  • Only join groups you are comfortable being in.
  • Remember that your phone number is visible to all group members.
  • Important documents and policies will be posted on the Living Earth website for reference.

7. Leaving & Rejoining

You are free to leave any group at any time. If you wish to rejoin later, just request an invite link or ask an Admin.

8. Disclaimer

The WhatsApp groups are provided as a community tool. Living Earth is not responsible for:

  • The accuracy of shared information.
  • Transactions or private deals between members.
  • Individual opinions expressed in groups.

Participation is at your own discretion, and members are expected to use common sense and care.

9. Updates to These Terms

These guidelines may evolve as our Community grows. Updates will always be published on the Living Earth website and shared in the Announcements group.
