Best Practices for Farmers and Hosts

If you want to receive volunteers on your land or project:

  1. Choose a platform (or more than one) and register as a host.
  2. Write a clear and honest listing including:
    • What kind of help you need (gardening, building, teaching, admin etc.)
    • What you offer in return (meals, accommodation, learning)
    • Your location and available dates
    • Daily routines and expectations
  3. Add pictures of your site, accommodation, food, and previous volunteers if possible.
  4. Mention Living Earth Namibia in your listing to attract aligned volunteers.
  5. Reply promptly to enquiries — reviews matter.
  6. Offer a meaningful experience: teaching, cultural exchange, and storytelling often matter more than just work.

You can also link to your job post on the Living Earth Job Portal and in your WWOOF/Workaway listing.

  2. Create a profile that shows your skills, interests, and values (especially sustainability, organic farming, cultural exchange).
  3. Browse listings in countries you’re interested in — filter for regenerative agricultureeco-villages, or permaculture.
  4. Apply to hosts with a clear, respectful message. Mention that you’re part of Living Earth Namibia.
  5. Prepare for your trip:
    • Get a passport (and visa if needed)
    • Consider basic travel/medical insurance
    • Discuss expectations clearly with your host
